Democrats win the U.S. House and Senate, AP says

Democrats flipped at least seven Senate seats and five governor's offices. Senate races in Alaska and Mississippi were still uncalled Wednesday morning.

Ortiz, Doan and Altwer lead early San Jose council counts as ballot counting goes on

Santa Clara County has counted 306,898 ballots so far.  Mail ballots can still arrive through Nov. 10, and results are certified Dec. 3.

Early count:  Alum Rock school tax and bond ahead; Cambrian and Orchard parcel taxes short of two-thirds

The results are unofficial.  Ballots from about 28% of the county's registered voters had been counted by late Tuesday, and more will be counted in the coming days.

Appeals court throws out murder charge in toddler's fentanyl death

Judges said a man accused of supplying drugs to a 19-month-old's parents was too far removed from her death to be charged with murder.
