Ramayana: Rise of a Legend (theaters, Thursday, Nov. 5):  This Indian epic retells the ancient Hindu story of Prince Rama, his battle with Ravana, an immortal demon king driven by revenge, and the prophecy that ties their fates together.  It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi.  It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, whose Dangal is the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.  Its producer, Namit Malhotra, runs DNEG, the Oscar-winning effects company behind Dune and Inception, and the music is by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, according to Cinemark's listing.  It arrives for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.  The Hindi version with English subtitles runs 3 hours 15 minutes; an English-language version runs 2 hours 46 minutes.  It is rated PG-13.

Wild Horse Nine (theaters, Friday, Nov. 6):  Shortly before Chile's 1973 military coup, two longtime CIA partners are sent to remote Easter Island, where one agent's friendship with two rebellious students threatens their mission, according to Searchlight Pictures.  It stars John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell and Steve Buscemi, with Tom Waits and Parker Posey.  It is written and directed by Martin McDonagh, who also wrote Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, the film that won Rockwell the 2018 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, according to the Academy.

Black Doves, Season 2 (Netflix, Thursday, Nov. 5):  In this British spy thriller, spy Helen, whose husband is preparing to become prime minister, and her best friend Sam, a hired killer now reduced to "low-rate hits," are pulled into a hunt for answers after an attack on their spymaster, Reed, according to Netflix.  It stars Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw, with Sarah Lancashire; Netflix says Ambika Mod and Neve Campbell join this season.
