SMITHFIELD - Econo Waste (Republic Services) will continue green waste pickup through the third week of November (Nov. 16–20), weather permitting, according to a Nov. 5 resident alert from Smithfield City. The city said that if weather turns earlier, the end date will move up.

The same alert reminded residents that dogs have been left in the city cemetery and that City Code 12.20.150 bars animals in any cemetery except inside a vehicle, where they must stay while the vehicle remains. The city asked walkers to leave dogs at home and linked the code section.

Why this matters

Green waste pickup is ending for the season, and the cemetery rule is already on the books; both affect everyday yard work and visits to burial grounds.
