Hyrum council to weigh sewer master plan and firefighter pay ranges tonight
HYRUM - The Hyrum City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in Council Chambers at 60 W. Main St. to consider Resolution 26-28 approving a Comprehensive Sewer Collection System Master Plan, according to the city council packet.
Water Reclamation Manager Angela Pritchett's memo calls the plan "the first step in updating the City's sewer impact fees, which have not been comprehensively reviewed or revised in more than twenty years." The plan covers only the collection system; a separate Water Reclamation Facility plan is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
Ordinance 26-23 would lower the hourly pay range for full-time and part-time Fire Fighter AEMT and part-time Paramedic positions from $22-$38 to $17-$30. The ordinance says the ranges adopted in June were set higher than the fire department requested, and the fire chief asked for the change.
The council will also consider the 2027 recreation fee schedule and a sole-source award to WSP for Substation 3 switchgear design and commissioning, quoted at $110,780.
Why this matters
The master plan lets Hyrum begin rewriting sewer impact fees and rates, which affect what builders and ratepayers pay.
