Tampa General and Lifepoint plan 40-bed rehab hospital in Spring Hill
The freestanding inpatient facility is expected to open in the second half of 2028, pending approvals.
TAMPA - Tampa General Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a unit of Lifepoint Health, announced plans Nov. 5 for a freestanding 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Spring Hill, near the campus of TGH Spring Hill.
The hospital is expected to open in the second half of 2028, pending customary regulatory approvals, according to the Tampa General release. It is planned to treat patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, trauma, amputation and other complex conditions, serving Hernando County and surrounding communities.
The partners describe the project as their second inpatient rehabilitation hospital partnership in the greater Tampa market. The release does not give a construction cost or a street address.
"Expanding our partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation allows us to bring high-quality inpatient rehabilitation services closer to home for patients and families in Hernando County and surrounding communities," said Stacey Brandt, Tampa General's executive vice president and chief administrative officer and president of its Community and Specialty Hospital Division.
