Humble Robotics, a San Francisco startup building electric freight trucks with no driver’s cab, said Thursday it raised $51 million in Series A funding to move its Humble Hauler into customer pilots.

Obvious Ventures led the round, with earlier backers Eclipse and Energy Impact Partners joining again, according to FreightWaves and Business Insider coverage of the company’s announcement.  Total funding rises to about $75 million after a $24 million seed.  Valuation was not disclosed.

The Hauler is a low, skateboard-style electric platform meant to carry shipping containers on short routes — generally under 250 miles — between ports, rail yards, factories and warehouses.  The company lists a 200-mile range and 55 mph top speed.  CEO Eyal Cohen told Business Insider that data-gathering with conventional trucks should start in early 2027, with commercial Hauler operations aimed for the third quarter of 2027.

Humble is testing at a UC Berkeley research site north of the Golden Gate Bridge.  It holds a California permit for safety-driver testing and still needs further approvals before driverless commercial runs, Business Insider reported.  Named paying customers were not listed in the funding coverage.
