Meta to buy Conductor, maker of multi-agent AI coding tools
Conductor Cloud shuts Nov. 20; local app keeps updates into early 2027 while Meta and the team plan a new product.
Meta Platforms said it is acquiring Conductor, a startup whose desktop and cloud tools let software developers run several AI coding agents side by side, according to Conductor’s Nov. 4 company announcement.
Conductor, launched in July 2025, is an orchestration app: it assigns pieces of a programming job to separate AI agents in isolated workspaces so they can work in parallel. Founder Charlie Holtz wrote that the team is joining Meta and plans a new product for early 2027. Conductor Cloud will go read-only Nov. 13 and shut down Nov. 20, when cloud user data deletion begins; local Conductor keeps getting model updates and critical bug fixes until early 2027, the post said.
Purchase price, cash-or-stock mix, premium and closing conditions were not disclosed. Meta’s history includes large AI talent and product buys to feed its Llama models and developer tools; how Conductor’s stack will fold into Meta AI products was not spelled out. Active cloud subscribers will get refunds, Conductor said.
