LOS ALAMOS - Los Alamos Public Schools students will receive four rounds of personalized "Just Right Reader" books to keep, starting Friday, Nov. 20, through a statewide partnership with the New Mexico Public Education Department, the district said in its Nov. 2-8 newsletter.

The state agency funded the books to support SB 37, which the newsletter calls the governor's High Quality Literacy Act. Each pack is matched to the child's reading skills, and the district says 10 minutes of reading together each day can help build skills and confidence.

The district held a free Family Literacy Kickoff Workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for families of students in grades K-3, on ways to use the books and support reading at home.
