LOGAN - Utah State University has named Caleb Simmons vice president for Statewide and Online Education, according to a Nov. 2 USU Today announcement. Simmons will join USU on Jan. 1.

USU President Brad L. Mortensen began bringing the statewide and online teams together last July. Simmons most recently served as vice provost of Arizona Online at the University of Arizona, overseeing a system the university said serves 25,000 learners across the online campus, four statewide locations, and continuing and professional studies.

Why this matters

The hire fills the top job for USU's statewide and online programs that serve students beyond the Logan campus, including Cache County residents who take remote or statewide courses.
