USU panel on data centers meets Thursday at the Whittier Center
Five USU and city voices talk land, water and energy the same evening the county hears data center rules.
LOGAN - A Utah State University panel on data centers, what they are used for and how they affect Utah's land, water and energy meets Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Whittier Center, 290 N. 400 East, according to the USU events calendar.
The event, "Growth & Balance: Data Centers," is the fall installment of CANRI's Growth & Balance series. The calendar lists the Community and Natural Resources Institute as the hosting department.
The calendar lists five panelists: sociologist Jessica Schad, Logan City Council member Mike Johnson, engineer Hang Dai, Gina Gilson of Environment & Society, and mathematician Brennan Bean. Betsy Brunner of Communication Studies moderates.
Admission is free. Organizers ask people to RSVP through a Google form so they have enough snacks, the listing says.
Same night at the county
The panel overlaps the Cache County Planning Commission's public hearing on proposed development standards for data centers, set for 5:35 p.m. or shortly after at the Historic Courthouse, 199 N. Main St., according to the commission's amended Nov. 5 agenda.
