North Logan weighs Ashbourne rezone; Amalga considers allowing truck stops
NORTH LOGAN - The North Logan City Council will consider rezoning 9.90 acres at the northeast corner of 2200 North and 400 East from R-1-12 residential to MX-CC (East Side Transition) at its meeting Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at 2525 N. 600 E., according to the posted agenda.
The Ashbourne Development item also includes a development agreement and master plan for the parcel. At 6:35 p.m. the council holds a public hearing on its intent to adopt or amend an impact fee facilities plan. The agenda also lists an ordinance adopting the 2024 Wildland-Urban Interface Code and a city WUI map, and an updated storm water management plan. The meeting will be streamed on YouTube.
The same night at 6 p.m., the Amalga Planning and Zoning Commission holds a public hearing on Ordinance 2026-10, which would make automotive service stations, including truck stops and travel centers, a permitted use in the Light Industrial zone and set standards for them, according to its agenda. Members will vote on whether to recommend that ordinance and Ordinance 2026-11, on appeal hearing fees, to the Town Board. The commission meets at 6590 N. 2400 W.
Why this matters
Both rezoning and use changes shape what can be built near homes for years. Residents can speak at the hearings or contact North Logan City Recorder Scott Bennett at (435) 752-1310.
