Regional Planning Commission now operating from new RPC Center on South Neil Street
The agency left the Brookens Administrative Center in Urbana after 27 years; energy-assistance services stay at a separate Round Barn Road office.
CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission began operations Monday, Nov. 2, at its new administrative home, the RPC Center at 2107 S. Neil St. in Champaign, the agency said in a news release. The RPC had been at the Brookens Administrative Center in Urbana for 27 years.
The center is open to clients and customers from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The RPC's phone number is (217) 328-3313.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program services are not available at the new center. The RPC moved LIHEAP services in August to its separate LIHEAP office at 2009 Round Barn Road in Champaign, the release says.
The agency said owning the building will, over the long term, cut the overhead of leasing space and let it put more money toward its programs. The RPC Center has roughly 50 offices, four meeting rooms and a conference room, according to the release.
