County Board adds two court grants and a Board of Review pick; proposed NDA ban now exempts lawsuit settlements for board members

URBANA - The Champaign County Board has added three items to its Thursday, Oct. 22, agenda, according to an addendum posted for the 6:30 p.m. meeting, and has distributed a revised version of its proposed ban on non-disclosure agreements.

The addendum asks the board to approve a $3,000 federal Court Improvement Program grant that would let the circuit court provide protein-dense food to families before abuse and neglect hearings, and a $100,000 Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority grant for residential substance abuse treatment. Both resolutions say the grants were applied for and awarded before board approval, with terms running Oct. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2027. It also reappoints Susan Frobish to the Board of Review through May 31, 2028.

The updated Ordinance 2026-18 text, in a handout, adds an exception for confidentiality clauses in lawsuit settlements to the ban on NDAs by board members. The earlier packet version carried that exception only in the section covering county employees.

The meeting page also now posts union contracts for corrections sergeants and Head Start staff, both on the agenda.
