Township board was scheduled to consider $55,000 Urbana rental-aid agreement
URBANA - The Cunningham Township Board was scheduled Monday night to consider an agreement under which the City of Urbana would give the township supervisor's office up to $55,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant money for rental assistance, according to the board's Oct. 19 agenda and packet.
The draft agreement in the packet covers costs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Help is limited to Urbana households earning no more than 80% of the area median income, for up to three consecutive months, with payments made directly to landlords. The city would reimburse the township quarterly.
A supervisor's report in the packet says the township spent $58,958 on rental assistance for 40 households in September, down from $70,388 for 46 households in August.
The agenda also listed approval of June 15 and July 13 minutes and the monthly Town Fund and General Assistance bills. No minutes, action report or video of the meeting had been posted on the city's meetings page late Monday, so the board's action is not yet known.
