Champaign Park District holds hearing on $1.5 million bond issue, weighs $18.9 million levy estimate
The board meets Wednesday; the estimated levy is $608,002 more than last year's.
CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Park District board will hold a public hearing Wednesday on plans to issue $1.5 million in general obligation bonds, then consider an estimated 2026 property tax levy of $18,893,710, according to the board's agenda packet.
The bonds would pay for maintenance, improvements and protection of land, buildings and parks, including land acquisition. Staff recommends authorizing the treasurer and finance director to seek bids, with final consideration set for Nov. 10.
The estimated levy is $608,002 more than the 2025 levy and captures 75% of new growth in the district's equalized assessed value, which staff estimates at $3.09 billion, up 7.6%. Staff recommends a levy hearing on Nov. 10, with the final levy ordinance due Dec. 9.
The board will also consider accepting its fiscal 2025-26 audit and a three-year DocuSign agreement at $24,710 a year. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Bresnan Meeting Center, 706 Kenwood Road.
