County Highway Committee to review bridge bids Friday; Stark Excavating low on $287,483 deck-beam job
Big O Services came in about 8% under the engineer's estimate on a second bridge project.
URBANA - Champaign County Board's Highway and Transportation Committee will review bids on two county bridge projects at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Lorraine Cowart Conference Room, 1605 E. Main St., Urbana, according to the committee's agenda packet.
Stark Excavating submitted the low bid of $287,483 at an Oct. 7 letting for replacing precast concrete deck beams and rehabilitating the substructure of a bridge in Section 24-00143-00-BR. The engineer's estimate was $348,578. A draft resolution awarding Stark the contract is set for full County Board adoption Oct. 22.
For County Highway 8, Section 24-00144-00-BR, bids opened Sept. 29 ranged from $1,042,841.40 to $1,380,000 against an engineer's estimate of $1,136,144.50. The bid tabulation shows Big O Services of Danville lowest, 8.21% under the estimate; no award resolution for that project is in the packet.
