County committee backs $339,600 contract to split Courtroom F into two courtrooms
Five bids came in, all below the architect's $530,000 estimate.
URBANA - A Champaign County Board committee on Tuesday recommended awarding a $339,600 contract to Petry-Kuhne to divide the county's Courtroom F into two separate courtrooms, according to the committee's action report.
The Facilities Committee placed the recommendation on the full board's consent agenda. Five bids were opened Sept. 17, according to a memo from the project architect, Bailey Edward. Petry-Kuhne's base bid was lowest; the others were English Brothers at $367,700, Barber & DeAtley at $368,900, Mid-Illinois at $421,445 and Grunloh Construction at $452,000.
All five bids came in below the architect's $530,000 estimate. The memo says there are few active bidding projects right now, which it credits for the favorable prices.
The committee's next meeting is Nov. 4, moved because of the Nov. 3 election.
