Boise State formally installs David Hahn as its eighth president

At an Oct. 29 investiture, Hahn laid out five commitments, including a new $700 million fundraising goal.

BOISE - Boise State University formally installed Dr. David W. Hahn as its eighth president Thursday, Oct. 29, at a ceremony at the Morrison Center attended by students, faculty, staff and community leaders, the university said.

Hahn built his inaugural address around the theme "We Are One Boise State." Kurt Liebich, president of the Idaho State Board of Education, said the board's decision to appoint Hahn was unanimous. Hahn has more than 30 years in higher education and was most recently dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona, according to the university.

Hahn outlined five commitments. Student success stays the top priority, including keeping a Boise State education affordable for Idaho families. The university will also work with Idaho companies to prepare the state's workforce, pursue research in healthcare, semiconductors, natural resources and other fields, set a new $700 million goal for its ongoing Unbridled fundraising campaign, and keep building its athletics program.

Boise State enters this chapter from a position of strength. We should be proud but never complacent.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little also spoke, calling Boise State "an important part of Idaho's success story." Student Ramiro Mendoza, a first-generation college student from Homedale studying business marketing, gave remarks as well.
