Boise State engineering dean Amy Fleischer wins Idaho tech leadership award
The Idaho Technology Council gave Fleischer its Star Garnet Women Leading Tech Award at its Oct. 29 gala.
BOISE - Amy Fleischer, dean of Boise State University's College of Engineering, received the Star Garnet Women Leading Tech Award at the Idaho Technology Council's 2026 Hall of Fame Gala and Idavation Awards on Oct. 29 at the Boise Centre, the university said Nov. 3.
The award, named for Idaho's state gem, honors a woman whose technology leadership stands out for strategic insight, innovation and mentorship, according to the university. Diane Temple, president and CEO of the Idaho Technology Council, credited Fleischer with expanding Boise State's research capacity and strengthening its AI and microelectronics programs.
Fleischer joined Boise State in February 2025. Since then, the college's faculty and staff have more than doubled their invention disclosures and patent applications compared with the previous two years, and the college has secured more than $580,000 in grants to move university technology toward commercial use, the university said. Her fundraising has included money for two new endowed professorships, one in microelectronics and one in artificial intelligence.
In February 2025 she also joined an Idaho Department of Commerce delegation to Taiwan focused on semiconductor workforce development. Those ties led to a May 2026 agreement between Boise State and Minghsin University of Science and Technology for joint research, exchanges and workforce training, signed at the Idaho State Capitol.
