Somers school board hires interim superintendent and a search firm

SOMERS - The Somers Board of Education voted Oct. 26 to hire Dr. Paul Gagliarducci as interim superintendent effective Dec. 7, pending a final contract, according to draft minutes of the meeting.

The board also voted to hire CABE Executive Search Services to help find a permanent superintendent, subject to final contract negotiation, according to the draft minutes. The minutes give no contract terms or costs for either hire.

Director of Business Services Stephanie Levin presented a first look at the five-year capital plan, which moves replacement of the Somers Elementary School playground to the 2027-28 fiscal year, with a goal of installing a new one by spring 2028. The draft minutes say the playground, installed in 1993, has significant rusting and needs ongoing repairs.

The board approved first-quarter budget transfers, including $8,000 shifted from testing supplies to educational software for BrainPOP, according to the draft minutes.

The board's next regular meeting is Nov. 9, when it is set to approve its 2027 meeting schedule. The minutes remain a draft until the board approves them.
