Overnight I-91 ramp closures at Exits 45-49 continue in East Windsor and Enfield
ENFIELD - Interstate 91 on- and off-ramps at Exits 45 through 49 in East Windsor and Enfield are closing overnight, one ramp at a time, for highway work, according to a Connecticut Department of Transportation construction advisory dated Oct. 1.
The closures run Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in both directions. They began Monday, Oct. 12, and are expected to last about four weeks, the advisory says. Electronic message boards and detour signs will direct drivers, and state and local police and flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.
The advisory describes nighttime pavement preservation work, and says the project includes guardrail replacement and upgrades, catch basin cleaning and curb installation. Tilcon Connecticut Inc. was awarded the $30,674,887 contract in March 2025, and the project is scheduled to be finished in April 2027.
CTDOT advises drivers to follow posted detours or use other routes and notes the schedule could change because of weather.
