Xfinity has no senior discount — but income-qualified households can get Internet Essentials for $14.95 or $29.95 a month
The ~$30 figure often cited is the Plus plan price, not a flat senior credit. California LifeLine can cut an eligible Xfinity bill another $20–$30 a month.
Xfinity does not offer a traditional age-based senior discount, its internet-for-seniors guidance says. It does offer Internet Essentials and Internet Essentials Plus for households that meet income or public-assistance rules, including many older adults.
Internet Essentials costs $14.95 a month for 75/10 Mbps. Internet Essentials Plus costs $29.95 a month for 100/20 Mbps, with free equipment and no term contract. Households may qualify through Medicaid, SNAP, SSI or housing assistance, or income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level ($31,920 for one). Applicants need service available, no Xfinity Internet in the prior 90 days, and no Comcast debt under a year old.
Comcast launched the program in August 2011 and expanded it in August 2019 to include income-qualified seniors. The federal Affordable Connectivity Program's up-to-$30 monthly credit ended in June 2024. Xfinity is not a federal Lifeline provider, but in California it joins the California LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot: eligible households can get up to $20 a month off Xfinity Internet, or up to $30 with Xfinity Mobile or Voice, at xfinity.com/califeline. NOW Internet starts at $30 with no income test. San Jose Tech Hubs help with enrollment. NDIA rates Internet Essentials Plus "Best" among low-cost plans.
