The Santa Clara County Office of Education wants to hear from the public about what should become of the former Sunol Community School property in Midtown San Jose, according to a meeting notice from the office.  The Sunol Property Advisory Committee will hold a public input session Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. at the former school, 258 Sunol St.

The county education office, known as SCCOE, runs special education and other programs across Santa Clara County.  The committee is building recommendations for the Santa Clara County Board of Education.  The notice says no decision has been made, the committee only advises, and the board alone decides any action.

State law requires an advisory committee of seven to 11 members, including neighbors, parents, teachers and land-use experts, before a school agency sells or leases property it no longer needs.  The committee also meets tonight, Thursday, at 6 p.m. at the office's headquarters, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, to review the property's appraisal, its environmental condition and possible future uses, according to its agenda.  Both meetings are open to the public.
