Almaden library celebrates Diwali with dance, music and stories Nov. 5
A family program tells Diwali stories through Indian classical dance and ends with a group dance.
The Almaden Branch Library, 6445 Camden Ave., celebrates Diwali on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6 p.m. with a family program of Indian classical dance, music and storytelling, according to the San José Public Library's events calendar.
The library calls Diwali the Festival of Lights. In this program, performers tell Diwali stories through classical Indian movement, music and rhythm, and the audience is invited to take part. It ends with a group dance.
The library says the program welcomes families seeing Indian dance or Diwali for the first time, as well as South Asian families who want to see their heritage celebrated. It is held in the branch's program room and is paid for by the SJPL Foundation's Pat Dando Endowment Fund and the Friends of the Almaden Branch Library. Admission is free, and the event page lists no sign-up. The library's events FAQ says all San José Public Library events are free.
