Orem Arts Council reviews draft artist-in-residence program with $10,000 stipend
OREM - Orem's draft artist-in-residence program would pay a selected artist a $10,000 stipend, plus up to $3,000 toward travel, lodging and expenses, for a six-week residency in the city, city staff told the Orem Arts Council on Oct. 20, according to the meeting recording.
Staff brought the draft application to the council for feedback and said the city budgeted this fiscal year for both an artist-in-residence and a writer-in-residence grant. The artist program is meant to closely match the library's writer program in type and funding, staff said.
Under the draft, the artist would pick a six-week window between February and June 2027, lead at least one program for Orem Public Library patrons and present a finished work to the public.
The draft application listed a window of Oct. 20 to Nov. 20, but staff said those dates would probably change. No final application dates were set at the meeting.
