Flood Watch for Davidson County remains in effect through Sunday morning
NWS says excessive rain could flood low-lying areas and low-water crossings
NASHVILLE - The National Weather Service in Nashville has a Flood Watch in effect for Davidson County and 16 other Middle Tennessee counties until 7 a.m. Sunday, according to an alert the agency issued at 11 p.m. Friday.
The weather service says excessive rainfall could cause flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone spots, and that low-water crossings may be flooded. The watch also covers Bedford, Cheatham, Coffee, Dickson, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury, Perry, Rutherford, Wayne and Williamson counties.
The agency's Saturday forecast for Nashville calls for showers and thunderstorms, with between three-quarters of an inch and an inch of new rain possible.
The weather service urges people to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. It says those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to act if flooding develops.
