Flood Watch covers Davidson County from early Saturday through Sunday morning

National Weather Service says remnants of Hurricane Isaias could bring 1 to 3 inches of rain

NASHVILLE - The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Flood Watch for Davidson County and 16 other Middle Tennessee counties, effective at 1 a.m. Saturday and lasting until 7 a.m. Sunday.

The watch was issued at 11:42 a.m. Friday. The agency says flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible as remnants of Hurricane Isaias move north and bring periods of heavy rain. Widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with higher amounts possible locally.

According to the alert, excessive runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying, flood-prone locations, and low-water crossings may be flooded. The other counties are Bedford, Cheatham, Coffee, Dickson, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury, Perry, Rutherford, Wayne and Williamson.

The weather service advises people to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.
