Gateway Elementary and Madison Middle to add International Baccalaureate in 2027-28

The two schools join 10 other Metro Nashville schools offering IB, the district says

NASHVILLE - Gateway Elementary and Madison Middle will begin offering the International Baccalaureate curriculum to all students in the 2027-28 school year, Metro Nashville Public Schools said in an Oct. 14 announcement.

The district said both schools were recently accredited, joining 10 other district schools that offer IB. Gateway will offer the IB Primary Years Programme and Madison the Middle Years Programme.

Students who go from Gateway to Goodlettsville Middle and then Hunters Lane High will be able to stay in IB the whole way, Gateway Principal Ashley Jackson said in the announcement. The district said Bellshire and Stratton elementary schools, which feed into Madison, are IB candidates, and that every school in the Hunters Lane cluster is an IB school or is applying to be one.

“Families now have access to a continuous IB experience from elementary through high school,” Jackson said.

IB is already offered at Antioch, East Nashville, Hillsboro and Hunters Lane high schools; East Nashville, Goodlettsville, J.T. Moore and West End middle schools; and Eakin and Julia Green elementary schools, according to the district.
