Three Nashville elementary schools teach half of each day in Spanish under a federal magnet grant
Glenview, Paragon Mills and Stratton added first grade this year
NASHVILLE - Glenview, Paragon Mills and Stratton elementary schools are in the second year of dual language immersion programs, in which students get half of each school day's instruction in English and half in Spanish, according to a Metro Nashville Public Schools news story published Oct. 9.
The district says the three schools started the programs in 2025 through a federal Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant. Each began with kindergarten in 2025-26, added first grade this school year, and will add a grade each year until all students in kindergarten through fifth grade learn in both languages.
At Paragon Mills, students study math and science in Spanish and English language arts and social studies in English, switching around midday, the district said. "Even though we are still early in our journey, I can already see the impact," Principal Andy Lyons said.
