Lane closures continue in Logan Canyon as fiber work nears winter break

LOGAN - Drivers in Logan Canyon should expect intermittent lane closures in three spots as the Utah Department of Transportation wraps up fiber-optic work before a winter break, according to UDOT's Oct. 30 project update.

Closures are near milepost 460.5 at the turn lane to Champ Drive, near milepost 476.1 at Temple Fork and Rick Springs Campground, and near milepost 479.9 at the Tony Grove turnoff.

UDOT said paving around manholes is done for the year, with about 10,000 tons of asphalt placed so far. Fiber connections should be complete in early to mid-November, weather permitting, before the project's winter hiatus. The project page lists completion in spring 2027.

UDOT asks drivers to slow down, allow extra time and follow flaggers and signs. Cyclists should stay out of active work zones; UDOT warns of trenches, uneven road surfaces and loose gravel throughout the corridor.

"Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather, utilities, and material delays," the update says.

Why this matters

Anyone driving or cycling up Logan Canyon, including to Tony Grove or Temple Fork, should plan for flaggers and slowdowns at the work sites until the project pauses for winter.
