Iron County Commission agenda lists repeal of data center and solar moratorium, new development overlay
The Oct. 26 agenda also included the 2027 tentative budget and a proposed agreement with the Utah Inland Port Authority.
PAROWAN - The Iron County Commission was scheduled Monday, Oct. 26, to consider repealing the county's temporary moratorium on data centers and solar power plants, according to the meeting agenda posted on the Utah Public Notice Website.
The agenda listed Ordinance 2026-24, which would repeal the moratorium, Ordinance 2026-13. A 10 a.m. public hearing was set on Ordinance 2026-23, which would replace the zoning chapter now titled "Data Centers" with a Strategic Development Zone Overlay and amend county rules on solar power plants, use definitions and the table of uses. Brett Hamilton was listed to present it.
Commissioners were also set to see the 2027 tentative budget, requested by Lucas Little; consider a memorandum of understanding, listed under Sam Woodall, giving the county input on future Utah Inland Port Authority projects; consider traffic control devices in the school zone near Three Peaks Elementary, requested by Jared Dannelly; and appoint Travis Laub to the Planning Commission.
The agenda does not describe what the overlay would allow or give budget totals. The commission's votes were not in the public record available Wednesday afternoon.
