Cedar City Council puts airport camera contract and planning consultant pick on consent agenda
DSI National's $51,548.73 low bid came in under the $60,000 budget; Ardurra ranked first for a five-year planning agreement.
CEDAR CITY - The Cedar City Council on Oct. 21 sent two Cedar City Regional Airport contracts to its consent agenda for the following week, according to the work-meeting packet and recording. Items on a consent agenda are approved together in one vote, without separate discussion.
The first is a terminal security upgrade. A memo from Airport Manager Tyler Galetka shows DSI National bid $51,548.73, below the $60,000 the airport budgeted and $49,621.27 under the only other bidder, HEI Security LLC, at $101,170. The work moves 13 existing cameras to a new system, adds 15 cameras and converts access control on 10 terminal doors, and must be finished by Dec. 4. Staff recommended the award and asked that the mayor be authorized to sign.
The second names Ardurra as the airport's planning consultant under a five-year agreement still to be negotiated. Four evaluators scored Ardurra 87.50 of 100 and Woolpert 80.75. Federal aviation rules require ranking firms on qualifications, not price; Galetka told the council fees are set for each project and checked against an independent estimate. The packet gives no total value for the agreement.
