City Council to adopt 2027 legislative agenda, hold Charter hearing Monday
Charlottesville's Oct. 19 agenda also starts the five-year Comprehensive Plan review.
CHARLOTTESVILLE - Charlottesville City Council will vote Monday, Oct. 19, on a resolution adopting its 2027 legislative agenda, according to the meeting agenda the City posted Oct. 14. Council will also hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the City Charter.
A City staff memo says the Charter changes would update outdated language, fix cross-references and align procedures with state law. If Council approves them, the request would go to the City's General Assembly delegation for the 2027 session; the General Assembly must enact any change.
Other action items include starting the five-year review of the Comprehensive Plan, approving construction management at risk procedures, and a resolution on a sign in Court Square recognizing the sale of enslaved people. The consent agenda includes a $313,698 victim witness grant and $189,500 in grants for an outdoor gym at Tonsler Park.
The opening session at 4 p.m. includes an update on the Charlottesville Albemarle Regional Transit Authority. The business session begins at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall.
