Northbound Goodwin closes in Urbana through Nov. 2; MTD Illini buses detour

URBANA - Northbound North Goodwin Avenue is closed between West Clark Street and West Main Street from 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, to 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, for work by Illinois American Water contractors, according to an Urbana Public Works notice.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District is rerouting northbound Illini and Illini Limited trips for the same dates. Northbound buses will run from Goodwin to Main Street, then Harvey Street to University Avenue before rejoining the regular route, MTD says. The Goodwin & University stop is closed during the detour.

The detour affects the 22 Illini on weekdays during the day, the 220 Illini on weekday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and the 220 Illini Limited on Saturday and Sunday days, according to MTD.

Over the same week, West University Avenue will have intermittent lane reductions between North Matthews Avenue and North Harvey Street for work by the same contractors, a second city notice says. Separately, North Broadway Avenue remains closed to through traffic between University Avenue and Water Street for water infrastructure upgrades until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
