From the archives, 1922: Injunction stops Twin Cities-Danville bus line
CHAMPAIGN - Motor bus service between the Twin Cities and Danville had been halted by a court injunction sought by the Illinois Traction System, the Twin City Review reported on its front page Oct. 20, 1922, explaining that the order barred running buses for profit between the two cities after the Traction System complained that the buses followed a route parallel to its own line and so were not a necessary means of public travel.
The paper, published in the interest of organized labor, objected to the ruling, arguing that if the Big Four and Illinois Central railroads had been able to win an injunction on the same grounds some 20 years earlier, the Traction System itself would have been seriously handicapped or might not have been able to exist at all.
