Boise gets $25,000 NOAA award to plan heat-wave drills
The city will run a heat preparedness exercise and drills with local healthcare partners.
BOISE - The City of Boise has been awarded $25,000 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to prepare for extreme heat, the city announced Oct. 29. The money comes through the National Integrated Heat Health Information System's Heat Tabletop Exercise Design Challenge.
The city plans to use the award to design and hold a heat preparedness exercise and heat-wave drills with local healthcare partners. The city says Boise ranks among the fastest-warming cities in the U.S., with more days above 90 degrees each summer.
Planning and practicing together helps us identify gaps before emergencies happen.
