Mayor picks Beth Sumner as Boise Airport director; council vote set for Nov. 10
BOISE - Mayor Lauren McLean has chosen Beth Sumner to be the next director of Boise Airport, according to an Oct. 26 release from the mayor's office. Sumner takes the job only after the City Council confirms her at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Sumner has been the airport's deputy director of engineering and planning since 2023, the release says. In that role she has helped direct engineering and planning for the $1.4 billion BOI Upgrade program and leads the airport's federal funding strategy, which the city credits with more than $100 million in competitive and discretionary awards.
Before joining the airport, she was senior executive for installation operations at Gowen Field, the military side of the shared airfield, and deputy director of the 124th Fighter Wing. The city says she served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.
The Nov. 10 council meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Boise City Hall, 150 N. Capitol Blvd., and is open to the public and streamed on the city's YouTube channel, according to the city's meeting calendar.
