Seasonal off-leash dog program returns to three Boise parks

Ann Morrison and Optimist opened to off-leash dogs Nov. 1; Simplot Sports Complex follows Nov. 16.

BOISE - Dogs can run off leash again at Ann Morrison Park and the Optimist Youth Sports Complex, where Boise's seasonal program resumed Sunday, Nov. 1, according to an Oct. 30 release from Boise Parks and Recreation. Simplot Sports Complex joins on Monday, Nov. 16.

The program lasts through Feb. 28, 2027. Off-leash use is allowed from sunrise to sunset across all three parks, except on Boise River Greenbelt paths, parking lots, roads and playgrounds, the city said.

Together Treasure Valley Dog Island at Ann Morrison stays open all year. The city lowers pond levels there in winter and warns owners to keep off the ice.

Owners must pick up after their dogs, and the city suggests getting or renewing an animal license. Questions go to Parks and Recreation media relations at (208) 608-7600.
