Anthropic adds Personal Finance to Claude with read-only bank links via Plaid
U.S. Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers can ask Claude about balances and spending; the feature cannot move or invest money.
Anthropic, the San Francisco company behind Claude, said Thursday it is rolling out Personal Finance, a tool that lets the chatbot answer questions from a user’s own bank and card data.
The feature starts in U.S. beta this week for Claude’s paid Pro, Max and Ultra plans. Users connect accounts by signing into their bank through Plaid, a common account-linking service, so Claude never sees the bank password. Access is read-only: Anthropic said Personal Finance cannot move, manage or invest money, and it does not sell credit cards, loans or savings accounts.
Once linked, Claude can total spending by category, flag possible duplicate charges or rising bills, explain terms such as APR, and build simple charts or bill calendars, according to Anthropic’s product post. The company said Claude may still make mistakes, so users should check important figures with their banks. Hub chats about connected accounts are not used to train Anthropic’s models, the post said, and accounts can be unlinked anytime.
