SAN JOSE — Hockey and college basketball led the Bay Area card on Friday, Nov. 6, with Stanford volleyball adding a five-set ACC result in Florida.

Macklin Celebrini scored and Yaroslav Askarov made 25 saves, but the San Jose Sharks lost 1-4 at the Minnesota Wild at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. Celebrini tied the game in the second period before Minnesota pulled away. The Sharks fell to 7-10-1 and have lost four straight and six of their last seven.

The San Jose Barracuda lost 2-3 to the Bakersfield Condors at Tech CU Arena in a Pacific Division AHL game. The Barracuda entered the weekend at 5-6-0-0.

Nick Townsend scored 25 points with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals as Stanford men's basketball beat Oakland 81-63 at Maples Pavilion. Christian Bliss added 17 points, and Aidan Cammann scored 13. The Cardinal improved to 2-0; Oakland fell to 0-2.

No. 23 Stanford women's volleyball fell 2-3 at Miami in ACC play (25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 25-22, 14-16). Julia Blyashov had 20 kills and 15 digs; Lizzy Andrew added 13 kills. The Cardinal are 14-9 overall and 7-6 in the ACC.

Ben Oosterbaan and Andrew Hilman each scored 22 points as San Francisco men's basketball beat North Dakota State 79-70 at War Memorial Gym at the Sobrato Center. Ndewedo Newbury scored 11 off the bench. The Dons improved to 2-0; North Dakota State fell to 1-2.
