Sarod master Amjad Ali Khan and his sons play Montalvo Nov. 14
The Indian classical trio performs at the Carriage House Theatre in Saratoga. Tickets are $71 and $80 plus an $8 fee.
The Sarod Trilogy, sarod player Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Carriage House Theatre at Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga, according to Montalvo.
The sarod is a fretless, lute-like string instrument used in Indian classical music, played by plucking its metal strings. Montalvo says Khan, the son of sarod player Haafiz Ali Khan, gave his first concert at age 6, has performed at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall, and represents a seven-generation family line of sarod players. The trio won a Grammy for its part in "Inner World," an album by the Dalai Lama, Montalvo says.
Tickets: $71 and $80, plus an $8 service fee per ticket, on Montalvo's ticket site, checked Nov. 1, 2026. Tickets are nonrefundable. Parking is $15 per car. Artist Ria Sharma's paintings are on view from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. before the show. The box office is at 408-961-5858.
