Traversal raises $120 million at a $1 billion value for AI that fixes software outages
The startup's AI acts as an on-call engineer, digging into what broke when an app or website goes down.
Traversal, a startup whose AI helps companies figure out why their software broke, has raised $120 million at a $1 billion valuation, it said Tuesday.
Kleiner Perkins of Menlo Park, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures of Menlo Park co-led the round. Sequoia Capital, Battery Ventures and Amex Ventures also invested. Traversal has now raised $173 million since coming out of hiding in June 2025.
What it does
When a website or app goes down, a site reliability engineer, or SRE, is the on-call person who finds the cause and fixes it. That often means digging through logs, charts and recent code changes in the middle of the night. Traversal's AI does that digging, suggests or makes fixes and works to prevent repeats. Customers include Brazil's Nubank, legal AI firm Harvey, DigitalOcean, PepsiCo and American Express.
Traversal said customers ran more than 150,000 investigations last quarter. On its own test of 1,079 real-world outage puzzles, built with Cornell Tech and Columbia University, the best general AI agent got only 25.3% right on medium cases.
Founders Anish Agarwal, Raj Agrawal, Raaz Dwivedi and Ahmed Lone studied at MIT and UC Berkeley or worked in finance. The company is based in New York.
