San Jose's four council-appointed officials in line for 2.5% merit raises
A mayor's memo would give the city manager, attorney, clerk and auditor raises back to July 1 and 40 extra hours of leave.
SAN JOSE - San Jose's four top officials hired directly by the City Council would each get a 2.5% merit raise backdated to July 1, according to a memo from the mayor's office dated Oct. 30. The city manager, city attorney, city clerk and city auditor would also each receive 40 more hours of executive leave for 2027.
The memo says the raises follow favorable yearly performance reviews and match how the city rates its senior managers. It says the cost will be covered within each official's own office budget.
The Rules and Open Government Committee, which sets council agendas, takes up the memo at a joint meeting with the full council sitting as a committee at 2 p.m. Nov. 4. The memo asks that it go to the council for a vote Nov. 10.
Last year the council considered the same 2.5% raise and 40 hours of leave for the city manager, auditor, clerk and independent police auditor.
