UNMC names two finalists for Graduate Studies dean; public forums set for Nov. 13 and 17
OMAHA - The University of Nebraska Medical Center has named two finalists to be its Graduate Studies dean, UNMC said in an Oct. 30 newsroom post. They are Karen Gould, PhD, the interim dean, and Matthew Zimmerman, PhD, a professor of cellular and integrative physiology.
According to UNMC, the job has historically been part of the role of the vice chancellor for academic affairs and will now be a separate position.
Gould joined UNMC in 1999. Besides serving as interim dean, she is deputy research officer in Academic Affairs and a genetics, cell biology and anatomy professor. Zimmerman joined UNMC in 2007. He directs two graduate programs and the campus Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Core.
Each finalist will hold a public forum from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 1010 of the College of Nursing in Omaha, which can also be joined on Zoom. Gould's forum is Friday, Nov. 13, and Zimmerman's is Tuesday, Nov. 17. The campus can submit online evaluations of each candidate for a week after their forum. Ken Bayles, PhD, UNMC's vice chancellor for research, chairs the search committee.
