De Soto: move temporary signs off right-of-way by Monday
Election-season exception has ended; city crews plan to remove remaining signs Monday.
DE SOTO - Now that the election is over, the city’s regular temporary sign rules are back in effect, according to a News Flash posted Nov. 6 on the City of De Soto website.
The city asks anyone with temporary signs in the public right-of-way to move them to private property by the end of the weekend, with the property owner’s permission, before city crews begin removing remaining signs on Monday. Outside election season, temporary signs are normally allowed in the right-of-way only from Thursday through Sunday; an election exception had allowed signs beginning 45 days before Election Day through two days afterward.
The post says the regular rules apply regardless of what a sign says or supports, and it recommends placing signs at least 15 feet from the edge of the roadway.
