NASHVILLE - The Nashville Globe of Oct. 9, 1908, ran a New York dispatch dated Oct. 7 saying Peabody education fund trustees had put off a final distribution because Tennessee had not yet made the appropriations required for the Peabody Normal College for Teachers in Nashville. The dispatch says the city and Davidson County had appropriated $300,000 toward the $750,000 condition, with a state appropriation expected to be considered when the Legislature meets in January.
