Aquatic Center passholders can swim free in Española starting Nov. 3
County lifeguards will help staff the Lucero Center Pool while the Walkup Olympic pool is under renovation.
LOS ALAMOS - Los Alamos County Aquatic Center passholders can swim free at Española's Lucero Center Pool starting Tuesday, Nov. 3, under a partnership between the county and the City of Española, the county said in an Oct. 28 release.
Swimmers show their pass to use the six-lane pool at 313 Paseo de Oñate. The release lists hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Los Alamos County staff on site Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Lucero Center, 505-747-6050, posts its schedule.
A memorandum of understanding lets county lifeguards help staff the pool three days a week until Jan. 15, 2027, while renovation of the Olympic pool at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center continues. That work is scheduled to finish by mid-January.
The Lucero Center closes Nov. 9-16 for new flooring. In Los Alamos, the Leisure Lagoon keeps offering fitness classes, swim lessons and open swimming Monday through Saturday.
