Ghost Hunt returns to the Performing Arts Center on Halloween

LOS ALAMOS - The Department of Public Utilities, the Los Alamos Public Library and the Los Alamos Little Theatre are hosting the Ghost Hunt at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, according to a county news release.

Visitors to the free open house can explore one of the oldest buildings in Los Alamos with a range of ghost-hunting devices. Little Theatre performers will be on hand, the release says.

The event began four years ago to introduce the FLIR thermal cameras in the library's Library of Things. The county says the cameras can reveal poor insulation, air leaks and inefficient appliances, and it pairs them with the utilities department's DIY Energy Assessment checklist.

Costumes are encouraged, so families can head out trick-or-treating afterward.

Halloweekend After Party

The night before, the library hosts a free, all-ages Halloweekend After Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, outside Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave., in the Outdoor Learning Area between the main library and the senior center. Library staff plan s'mores, a round of the game The Werewolves of Millers Hollow and glow-in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets, according to the library's event page.
