Shakespeare Festival names directors for its 2027 Randall L. Jones Theatre season
Alan Muraoka, Aaron Galligan-Stierle and artistic director John DiAntonio return for three 2027 productions.
CEDAR CITY - The Utah Shakespeare Festival has named returning directors for three 2027 shows in the Randall L. Jones Theatre, according to a Nov. 1 release.
Alan Muraoka will direct The Drowsy Chaperone (Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison; book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar). He directed last season's Something Rotten! and 2021's Gold Mountain; the Festival says he played Alan on Sesame Street for 27 years. It previews June 24, 2027. "I am so thrilled to be returning to the Festival for my third time," Muraoka said.
Aaron Galligan-Stierle will direct Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace. He directed The 39 Steps in 2024, acted nine seasons, and heads BFA acting and musical theatre at Slippery Rock University, the Festival says. It "lives or dies on character," he said. It previews June 25, 2027.
Artistic director John DiAntonio will direct John Heimbuch's William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead, set in London in 1599. He directed Twelfth Night last season and Macbeth in 2025. It previews June 26 and runs through Oct. 2.
The Festival named its 2027 Engelstad Theatre and Greenshow directors on Oct. 30.
