Shakespeare Festival names directors for 2027 outdoor season
Michael Perlman, Geoffrey Kent and Carolyn Howarth will stage The Crucible, Henry V and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
CEDAR CITY - The Utah Shakespeare Festival has named directors for its three 2027 shows in the outdoor Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre and for The Greenshow, according to a Festival news post Oct. 30.
Michael Perlman, a New York-based writer and director who directed She Loves Me last season, will direct Arthur Miller's The Crucible, which previews June 21, 2027, and runs through Sept. 2.
Geoffrey Kent will direct Shakespeare's Henry V, previewing June 22 and running through Sept. 3. Kent directed See How They Run last season. "I cannot wait to bring some unique ensemble-forward staging to a play our audiences know so well," Kent said in the post.
Carolyn Howarth, who directed Troilus and Cressida last season, will direct The Merry Wives of Windsor, previewing June 23 and running through Sept. 4. Of the comedy, she said in the post: "It's belly-roll funny!"
Trey Plutnicki returns to direct and choreograph three new Greenshows on Greenshow Commons, from June 21 through Sept. 4. The Greenshow offers stories, music and dance on the green before the evening mainstage shows.
The post did not announce ticket dates or prices, or directors for the Festival's indoor 2027 shows.
